The annual Alternative Gift Fair — held at the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church community hall on Saturday, December 3 — provided people with a fun way to give gifts from the heart.
With live music playing, baked goods enticing, and massage therapists offering free relaxation, about 40 charitable organizations handing out information and suggesting ways to make contributions as gifts for friends and family.
This year gifts included $30 to buy medical checkups for 10 Mayan children, $5 for a recorder for a disadvantaged child, $10 for a week of fresh local vegetables for a low-income family, and many more choices.
If you missed the gift fair, you can go to the website of the Alternative Gifts of Greater Washington, www.aggw.org to download the “Shopping List” and mail in your order by Dec.13.
